Consistently strengthening our digital reach: majority stake in Puravita

Spotlights

Added value in the network

Our Omni-Channel strategy continues to evolve. With the majority stake in Puravita, we are strengthening our digital presence in the pharmacy and drugstores sector, particularly in the OTC segment, and diversifying our online offering.

As of January 2026, Galenica increased its stake in Puravita Ltd. from 34 to 80 per cent. This will add a strong digital platform in the Swiss healthcare market to our existing network. With a range of over 45,000 pharmacy, drugstore and health food products, Puravita is one of the leading online retailers. Headquartered in Speicher in the canton of Appenzell, the company employs 48 people and generates annual net sales of around CHF 22 million. It will continue to be managed by its founder Michael Sonderegger.

Puravita is a strategic addition to Galenica’s online offering. “In addition to pharmacy items, Puravita also has a broad product range of products in the drugstore and over-the-counter sectors. This step will enable us to ideally diversify our portfolio,” explains Stephan Mignot, Chief Marketing Pharmacies and Member of the Executive Committee of Galenica. “The company also fits perfectly into our ecosystem. It is very well positioned and has an excellent and impressive customer focus. At the same time, its integration into the Group opens up potential for synergies in areas such as logistics, product range and marketing.

Online retail as a growth driver

Online retail is increasingly becoming a key growth driver in the healthcare market. We expect this development to continue or even accelerate. One of the reasons for this is regulatory changes relating to non-prescription items. The so-called OTC liberalisation (OTC = over the counter) aims to ease dispensing rules so that products that were previously only available in pharmacies can also be sold via other sales channels and online. We see this development primarily as an opportunity and have been making targeted investments in our Omni-Channel strategy for several years now. Customers already benefit from a strong pharmacy network with Amavita, Sun Store and Coop Vitality, as well as a comprehensive digital offering via the respective online shops and the joint venture with Redcare. This will be expanded even further with the majority stake in Puravita.
